Network (18-25 yrs)
Try more. See more. Do more. At Scout Network, you’ll stand on your own two feet, and make memories to last a lifetime.
Who are Network?
Scout Network is open to anyone aged 18 to 24 years old. You do not have to have been a Scout to join but you will fit in best if you share Scouting values, enjoy trying new things, and like getting involved in “Scouting-style” activities.
When Explorer Scouts turn 18 they have the option to join Network. This helps them stay connected with their friends and the wider Scouting movement while giving them the freedom to shape their own programme and social activities.
Membership is free, flexible, and there is no formal training or learning required.
Scout Network supports young adults through an exciting stage of life, whether they are studying, working, travelling or settling somewhere new, while continuing to offer adventure, friendship and opportunities to build confidence and skills.
What do Network get up to?
Network members organise a wide range of activities based on what the group wants to do, including:
- Regular social meet-us (often in pubs, cafes or other local venues)
- Hiking and walking weekends
- Camping and expeditions
- Climbing and adventurous activities
- Water-based activities
- UK and international trips
Many Scout Network members choose to volunteer as Leaders, either within Explorers (where appropriate) or in Scout Groups local to where they live, helping to support younger sections and give back to Scouting.
Who leads Network?
Network is run by a team of volunteers, many of whom are also Explorer Scout Leaders, across the Kingston District. They are supported by the District 14 to 24 Team and the Network Lead Volunteer, who work together to coordinate activities, support members, and develop the Network programme.
What can Network work towards?
Scout Network is centred around three core values:
- Adventure – Trying new activities, pushing boundaries, and exploring the outdoors
- International – Connecting with people from around the world and experiencing other cultures
- Community – Making a positive impact locally and supporting others
Network members can work towards:
- Chief Scout’s Diamond Award
- King’s Scout Award
- Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
- Scouts of the World Award
These are among the highest awards in Scouting and are based around the three core values, personal development, and service to others.
Full details are available on the Scout website.
There will be events/ online talks across the year to help Network members achieve these.
Over 25?
Adults aged 25 and over can stay involved in Scouting by volunteering in one or more of the many roles available. These do not necessarily involve wearing uniform or committing to a regular weekly role. There are plenty of flexible options to suit different lifestyles.
